'The Senator' - Big Tree Park, Longwood, Florida, USA - the biggest and oldest bald cypress tree in the world 125 feet (38 m) tall at the time of its demise, with a trunk diameter of 17.5 feet (5.3 m). The tree was thought to have been destroyed by a fire from a lightning strike, but it was later discovered that the fire was started by an arsonist. Estimated to be 3,500 years old, making it the 5th oldest tree in the world.
