Crowned pigeon (Columba coronata). 1861 anatomical illustration of a blue crowned pigeon (now Goura cristata), showing the elaborate crest of feathers on its head. This large (70 centimetre long) pigeon is native to New Guinea. It is predominantly ground-dwelling and lives in rainforests, where it feeds on fallen fruit, seeds and berries.
