Queensland tiger. Illustration and photo-reconstruction of the striped marsupial cat Queensland tiger. Reported from the Queensland rainforests of Australia, the Queensland Tiger is not to be confused with the wolflike Tasmanian Tiger, or Thylacine, another cryptid. Queensland Tigers are medium-sized carnivorous marsupial striped cats known to the Aborigines for many centuries and to Euro-Australians since the 1600s. Also known by its native name, the yarri, it is described as being a dog-sized feline with stripes and a long tail, prominent front teeth and a savage temperament. It has been hypothesized to be a survivor or descendant of the large predatory marsupial Thylacoleo, officially considered to be extinct, or possibly a large feral cat variant.
