Dark red represents air temperatures (at 2 metres) greater than 10 degrees Celsius. The heat wave lasted from the 5th to the 13th February and included the hottest temperature ever record in Antarctica, 18.3 degrees Celsius, on the 6th February. Map based on the Goddard Earth Observing System (GEOS) model.
