All the men wear conical caps with ear-pieces, some arranged to resemble a fool\'s cap. The three ladies in the foreground are young and comely; of those in the background, one is enormously fat, others thin and witch-like. On the wall are two dilapidated prints: \'Hannibal\' and \'Charles XII\' (the head torn off), commanders noted for their disregard of severe weather.
