NASA engineering technicians, wearing fur and ski masks, testing optics of the Orbiting Astronomical Observatories in the Low Temperature Optical Facility (LTOF) at Goddard Space Flight Center, Maryland, USA. The LTOF was designed to simulate some of the conditions of outer space and reached a temperature of -60 degrees celsius. Photographed on the 22nd of May 1964.
