A new westerly turnpike road was constructed from Wellington Road through Armley and Bramley to Stanningley during 1835 and 1836 and, on 1st November of the latteryear, Isaac Morley, innkeeper of the Cardigan Arms, Bramley, introduced a market coach making four journeys on Tuesdays and Saturdays from the Griffin Inn, West Bar, to his establishment at Bramley.
