Princess Elizabeth Marries in Westminster Abbey Crowed London Cheers Royal Bride -- The Royal Procession passing through Trafalgar Square and its densely-packed cheering crowds on the way to Westminster Abbey- a view from Admiralty Arch. Princess Elizabeth, dressed in a wonderful gown heavy ivory slipper satin embroidered with thousand of pearls, drove through massed, cheering London crowds to be married in Westminster Abbey to the Duke of Edinburgh, the Former Lieutenant Philip Mountbatten. The Princess, accompanied by the King, drove to the Abbey in the Irish Coach with a Severeign's escort of Household Cavalry, in colourful full dress. Even the sun smiled briefly on the bride, although the weather was mild. Preceding the Princess were the Queen, Queen Mary, and members of European Royal families.
