Sarcina bacteria (yellow), illustration. Sarcina are Gram-positive cocci and can be found in dirt, but are also part of the human microbiome, where they mainly colonise the large intestine and skin. They may also be found in the stomach as they are one of the few bacteria that can resist this low pH.
