Daubigny; as one of the most important painter of landscapes of the 19th century; is one of the vital precursors of modernism. With his open-air painting; which mirrors mood and atmosphere in a unique way; he anticipated the artistic solutions of the impressionists. His example finds expression especially in the works of Claude Monet and Camille Pissarro; whose art was supported by him as a member of the jury of the Salon. " Bords de rivi鑢e; le Soir" from the legendary collection Gould and exhibited for years in the Metropolitan Museum (New York) even before 1900; is one of his most outstanding works which captures the pure mood of nature at sunset.Art trade; Van Ham.
