HISTORY OF PHOTOGRAPHY Carabiniere arrests a striker; a snapshot attributed to the photographer Adolfo Croce of Milan; co-owner of one of the first Italian international photo agencies. The linearity of the story; the isolated characters and the cleanliness of the gestures; hardly credible if imagined in the context of a scuffle between strikers and law enforcement; suggest to the historian of photography Ando Gilardi (in the Social History of Photography) that in "that which is proposed to the newspapers as the arrest of a striker (...) poses an appearance in a carabiniere costume and perhaps a real striker "who lent himself to the reconstruction; in a rather common and appreciated" photographic fake "at the beginning of the figure of the photojournalist.
