The lid is connected to the body with a hinge and on the opposite side has a pierced snub which fits on the body between two eyes and can thus be closed with a pin. The lid is adorned with blue enamel ground; on which tendril ornament encloses four on the body; and on the lid three medallions of white enamel. The medallions show the letters IHS and the monogram XPS alternately.
