Handkerchief of batist with white work that runs into a border of lace embroidery with zigzag pattern and around a border of bobbin lace; Handkerchief of natural-colored batist with embroidery - white work - surrounded by an openwork border of lace embroidery: work with twisted threads that continues from the batist and is stopped. The open sewing gives the impression of filet lace through the square grid that looks like a knotted network. Bobbin lace is sewn around this edge around one edge: Binche lace. Square model with straight edges. The white-on-white embroidery is in a continuous pattern along the edge of the batist and consists of thin; curving tendrils with small leaves and clusters of three rosette flowers; between which are some larger flowers; different in shape and with openwork flower hearts. The corners each have three hollow shells. The work with contracted threads has a square grid in which a zigzag pattern with florets has been made with stopper work. The zigzag is interrupted here and there by three embroidered rosette flowers. A wide strip of eighteenth century lace is sewn around the whole; with seams at the corners. The lace has a repeating pattern of an oval flower and a lying plume-shaped leaf. The motifs are made in linen with openwork edges and small cut-outs. They are connected by a ringed snow ground. In the motifs a decorative ground without rings was used as ornamental ground. The straight edges are finished with picots.; anonymous; Europe; c. 1700 - c. 1799 and/or c. 1800 - c. 1899; batist; kant; large snowflake ground with ring; l 41 cm x w 39.5 cm w 5.5 cm x; 10 cm
