Handkerchief of batist with in one corner an embroidered ribbon with 'Julie' and around a border work with pulled-out threads and a border bobbin lace; Handkerchief of natural-colored batist with embroidery - white work - and around a border work with drawn-out threads and a bobbin lace edge: Mechelen side. Square model with rounded corners because of the edge that is sewn to the corners. The embroidery is in one corner and involves two leaves and a branch with forget-me-nots; with a decorated ribbon around it. It says 'Julie' on the ribbon. The work with pulled-out threads lies like a decorative band along the fairly wide hems along the edges of the batist. This open sewing work has a striped pattern and a square grid on the corners. With the exception of the corners; the strip of lace is smoothly placed on the handkerchief. The repetitive pattern on the underside of the strip consists of a curving stem with a capricious flower and a leaf attached to it. Between the flowers; the stalk forms a trapezoidal cartouche; above which hangs a loosely erratic flower. The motifs are made in linen with thicker and shiny contour threads. They are connected to each other by a fine hexagonal grid ground: a Mechelen ground. The straight underside of the strip is finished with picots.; anonymous; Europe; c. 1800 - c. 1849; linen (material); Mechlin (lace); h 58 cm x w 55.5 cm x w 2.8 cm x; 4.3 cm
