The edge of the batiste is finished with a border piece with pulled-out threads to which the strip of lace is sewn. The upper half of the strip side has no motifs. Along the lower half of the strip the pattern consists of a scalloped edge of regular arches; with a hanging twig with rosette flower in each scallop. The motifs are made in linen with openwork edges and a single fine recess. The motifs are connected by a lattice ground: a square Valenciennes ground.
