The bust portrait on the obverse side of the cup shows Napol閛n Fran鏾is Charles Joseph

Henri-Joseph Ruxthiel from 1811; the birth year of the child. Today; the bust can be found
in Fontainebleau Palace. According to the engraving; it was given to Madame la Comtesse
Louise Charlotte Fran鏾ise de Montesquiou-Fezensac by Napol閛n I as a gift. She was the
Roi de Rome's governess between 1811 and 1815. The mug's ornamental decor design; with
stylised rose petals and bellflowers; originates from Alexandre-Th閛dore Brongniart the
elder. A design drawing hereto can be found in the collection of the Cit?de la c閞amique
in S鑦res (inv. no. 2011.3.1229).
A second cup of the same decor; however without handle mounting; is kept in the collection
of the Mus閑 du Louvre (inv. no. OA11937).
