The instruments from their workshop are superbly crafted and are considered the best of their time. In 1753 the founder of the workshop; Carl Augustin Grenser; was awarded the title of court instrument maker of Saxony. Leopold Mozart was one of his customers. The instrument maker Samuel Gottfried Wiesner took over this workshop in 1811 from Johann Heinrich Wilhelm Grenser; the nephew of the company founder. After Grenser's death in 1813 he also married Grenser's widow.
