Tuscany; Maremma Nature Park; village of Alberese: old stone wall with Saracenes watch tower of Collelungo (Torre di Collelungo) in the background; inside the nature park; viewing point is at the 4 km long "tower way" to the ancient Saracenes watch tower Torre di Collelungo (also: Torre di Colle Lungo) and Collelungo Beach (Spiaggia di Collelungo); 3 km away from the visitor centre of the nature park. The Collelungo watch tower was built in 14th century by Siena and extended by Cosimo I Medici (1519 - 1574); Grand Duke of Tuscany. In 1597; it was completely restored and houses for the soldiers were added. In 1847; a lightning destroyed the tower. End of 1990s; restauration works brought back the architecture of 16th century.
