Tuscany; city of Grosseto: inscription at monument to the war victims of bombardements 1943 and 1944; 2003 realized by sculptor Antonio Lazari; the monument is of bronze (sculpture) and stone (basement). The inscription on the basement reads: IN MEMORIA DI TUTTE LE VITTIME DI GUERRA CADUTE SOTTO I BOMBARDAMENTI DEL 1943 E 1944 LA CITTA' COMMOSSA; IL COMUNE DI GROSSETO E L'ASS.NE PROVINCIALE VITTIME CIVILI DI GUERRA 26 APRILE 2003 ("In memory of all war victims fallen under the bombardements of 1943 and 1944 The city in grieve; The city of Grosseto and teh provincial association "civil victims of war" 26th of April 2003"). The monument refers mostly to the bombardement of 26th of April 1943; when 205 citizens lost their lives. Among them were many children who played outside along the historic city walls. The monument is located in Parco Renato Pollini at the old Medici city walls; near city gate Porta Nuova (New Gate). The park is parallel to Viale Leonardo Ximines. Antonio Lazari (1939 - 2018) worked as well as a teacher in Grosseto.
