Light micrograph of normal human epididymis. The epididymis is a structure adjacent to the testis, through which sperm passes on its way to the vas deferens and ultimately the urethra. The epididymis consists of a convoluted duct (long horizontal structure) lined by columnar cells with basal nuclei (oval dark purple dots) and elongated cytoplasm (light blue-pink). The cells have stereocilia, the hair-like structures protruding into the luminal space (white) in the duct. Haematoxylin and eosin stained tissue section. Magnification: x200 when printed at 10cm wide.
