Gangrenous toe in a 87 year old male patient with diabetes, ischaemic heart disease and myelodysplastic syndrome, a form of blood cancer. Diabetic patients often develop ulcers on the feet due to inadequate blood supply or neuropathy (nerve damage) caused by the disease. In severe cases, the ulcers can become gangrenous necessitating removal of the affected area if further treatments fail.
