Lesser Flamingoes (Phoenicopterus minor) flying in formation over the ocean in Walvis bay, Namibia. This species tends to fly in rows or 'V' formations, which helps save energy. Flamingos are gregarious and vocal and flock together in large numbers on salt flats, lagoons, lakes, and swamps around the world, where they can filter-feed for shrimp, algae, and insects.
