Common bluebell (Hyacinthoides non-scriptus) flowers. Its range is Western Europe as far south as Spain. It is a fragrant member of the lily family, found in scrubland, undisturbed open woodland, and hedges. Its bell-shaped flowers carpet woodland floors in the spring. It will easily hybridise with the introduced Spanish bluebell (H. hispanica) and the result, H. x massartiana, is fertile and will also hybridise with both its parents.
