Silver orb weaver spider (Argiope sp.) carries fly it has caught to center of web where it will be consumed. The white, zig-zag patterns near the center of the web are the stabilimentum, the purpose of which is not definitely known. The bodies of these spiders can reach more than 25 mm across and can be found throughout much of the southeastern U.S. and elsewhere.
