Oesophageal Doppler monitor (ODM). This is a doppler guided fluid management monitor in use during a hepatectomy (surgery involving the removal of liver tissue). This device uses an ultrasound probe inserted in the oesophagus to measure bloodflow in the nearby descending aorta. The display may be used by doctors to monitor blood volume and oxygen delivery during major surgery or for patients under observation in intensive care.
