Fixed braces consist of metal brackets cemented to each tooth, with an adjustable wire threaded through each bracket. First, an abrasive is used on the surface of the teeth to help the adhesive that is applied next to stick. Dental cement is applied to the back of the brackets which are applied to the tooth.
